Child
Protection Policy
Section 3 - What to do if you suspect abuse may have occurred
There should be no significant delays in reporting any concerns,
suspected or otherwise.
Concerns should be reported to the Chairman in the first instance.
Those concerns will be evaluated, signposted appropriately and dealt
with internally.
If the suspicion in anyway involves the Chairman, anyone from the
National Council or indeed a member or volunteer, the matter must
be reported directly to the authorities.
It is of course the right of every individual to make direct referrals
concerning abuse or suspected abuse.
CNF makes the observation that that any one considering such action,
should first exercise caution, taking time to preserve any and all
information in support of the allegations.
CNF, points out that in some instances, false allegations will be
made and that anyone having cause for concern should exercise great
care before proceeding.
They should seek immediate advice from an appropriate individual
or organisation taking care to protect both parties identity, respect
the child's trust.
The matter should be recorded in detail by the person(s) making or
raising the concerns in writing, preserving any significant material
to support the claims until requested by an authority and or Children
Need Families.
